Chris Finley's new work is a continuation from his previous series of sculptures that were shown in Los Angeles last fall. Images of each piece were fed into his computer, distorted and manipulated via an art program, then copied onto canvases and painted. The resulting images have tremendous energy often seen as purely abstract configurations. Tight, thin jagged areas of color combine hard edge abstraction with futuristic cyber landscapes, tossing roughly identifiable chunks toward the periphery. This series is departure from previous ones where morphing images evolved from different levels of computer games.
