Australian artist Tracey Moffatt's exhibition, INVOCATIONS, will consist of a series of large-scale richly colored photo silkscreens.
To produce this body of work, Moffatt built complex sets then filmed two story lines that weave together scenes from the youth and maturity of a single female character. In one series, the child protagonist makes her way through an enchanted forest inhabited by witches, wild dogs, and ravens, in what has been aptly described as a 'Disney meets Goya landscape.' In the other, she is a seductive woman who inhabits a barren desert where demons and a benign naked man share the stage. Juxtaposing images from both stories, Moffatt presents a menacing fairlytale narative with reality checks from an equally haunting adulthood.
Moffatt is an internationally renowned artist who works in photography, film and print media.
