Henry Turmon's OBJECTS OF MEMORY exhibit consists of blown glass and drawings in grids on translucent polyshrink panels. His works explore the idea of "memory as identity" using organic or vessel shapes in the sculptures and more literal images in the drawings. The glass sculptures can be read as beakers, bulbs, or vital organs, their foggy surfaces mimicking the imperfect light of memory. Hand applied silver-leaf alludes to layers or skins - another memory motif. The shapes in both sculptures and drawings serve as signifiers that welcome viewer association and interpretation.
Henry Turmon received his BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. His works are in several collections, including the San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose, California and Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, Washingtion. Turmon has shown with Rena Bransten Gallery since 1990.
