During the month of January and into February, the Rena Bransten Gallery will present an exhibition of new works by William T. Wiley.
As part of his art making process, Wiley has always absorbed news bytes from current or breaking stories blending them wiith images from his personal mythology as well as ones of free association. The images and text , which may be integrated into puns, identify his concerns with such global issues as terrorism, big business, and the environment. Several works from this body of work were influenced by the events of September 11th.
Wiley received his BFA and MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in the early 60's. He has been widely exhibited throughout the United States and is in the collection of many museums including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Whitney Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago and the Walker Art Center.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 10:30 to 5:30,
Saturdays 11 to 5. For more information please contact the gallery directly at (415) 982-3292. |
